Atul Auto to Introduce Smart Auto Rickshaw with GPS and Wi-Fi Connectivity

Rajkot based three-wheeler manufacturer Atul Auto is readying a smart auto rickshaw for the urban three-wheeler market. Unlike any other auto rickshaw, this one comes integrated with a GPS and WiFi connectivity. This move by the Rajkot based company comes as an attempt to stretch its market, which is currently controlled by the likes of TVS and Bajaj Auto. Atul Auto has already showcased this three-wheeler at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo as 'Concept Auto'. Now, its commercial launch seem imminent, since the company has spurred up the groundwork.

"We already have seven percent share in the Indian three-wheeler market. Now it is time to serve something new in the market to get more. However, we do not have any fixed targets but want to increase our presence within the country and on the global front," said Niraj Chandra, director of Atul Auto. He further added "Rickshaw is a part of cab services. While others like radio cabs are providing such facilities, why not auto rickshaws? This is also being done as part of our strategy for future expansion in India and abroad. The smart concept auto rickshaw is most likely to hit roads by next year."

Mr. Niraj Chandra also said that their smart passenger auto also boasts of an attractive interior cabin, besides having technological advancements.

Atul Auto is apparently working on setting up a new manufacturing facility in Gujarat to improve its production capabilities. It is believed that this facility will begin its operations by the next fiscal year and is said to have a capacity to produce 60,000 units per annum. This will increase Atul Auto's current production capacity from 48,000 to over 1,00,000 units per year. On the other hand, the company has set aside INR 150 crore for its ambitious expansion plans in India.
