Indonesia Grows More Love for Scania Buses

Scania has received a fresh order for 150 low entry buses from Transjakarta in Indonesia. The Indonesian public transport operator had already placed an order of Scania 3-axle buses that are scheduled to be delivered later in the year and already has 108 hinged Scania buses in its fleet.
The public transport operator serves more than 10 million people on the bus route that is considered to be the world’s longest. Transjakarta plans to replace old polluting buses with the recently ordered Scania ones.
These buses will be the first low entry ones to ply on the Jakarta roads. Scania will deliver these buses in collaboration with United Tractors (Scania’s Indonesian Partner).
The bus bodies will be constructed by Laksana and feature abilities like wheelchair ramps. Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, excited about the order, said, “This is the world-class bus we expect to have. Jakarta has never before had low-entry buses.”
Scania’s Indonesian partner, United Tractors, is the largest equipment distributor in the country and Scania has set up bus depot workshops in Indonesia through United Tractors only. The partnership between the two was established in 2004 and focussed primarily on heavy duty trucks meant for the Indonesian mining industry.
