VECV has bagged a massive order from the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation. The firm will be supplying 1019 units of its Eicher 20.15 BS III buses to the state transport network for the inter-city and rural connectivity purpose.

The joint venture form Volvo and Eicher Motors has been booming of late. In the last few months, the company had bagged several orders from the state transport authorities of Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Andhra Pradesh. These hefty orders from government authorities reflect the growing image of Eicher brand in the region. Due to a sudden rise in the bus industry, Eicher branded buses have consolidated a 10% market share.

The company views this move as a testimony of the faith reposed by the authority on the brand. Vinod Aggarwal, CEO for VECV said, “The vision of our joint venture is to drive modernization in the CV space in the emerging markets and this order is just the right step in that direction.” And added that “Eicher branded buses are gradually increasing its presence in India as it seeks a larger footprint in the fast-growing emerging market and emerge as a full range bus player.”

The company is now brewing plans to set-up a full-fledged manufacturing house in the country, through which it aims to roll out 10,000 buses.

VECV is a joint venture between Swedish Volvo and home-bred Eicher. The collaboration aims to capitalise on the vast demand for heavy duty vehicles in the country, and is one of the major brands in the commercial vehicle sector of the country. Both of the entities own an approximate 50 percent stake in the firm.
